Our School
“Shotton Hall is an outstanding school where every child matters”. One of the many incredibly positive comments written by Ofsted Inspectors following their inspection of Shotton Hall School in January 2010.
As a school catering for 1151 young people, aged between 11 years and 16 years of age, Shotton Hall School is thriving. All key elements of the last inspection – the progress of all students, the school’s overall effectiveness, its capacity to improve, the quality of its teaching and learning and its leadership and management were all judged to be “outstanding”. It‘s not just Ofsted praising the school. The recent publication of achievement and performance league tables shows Shotton Hall School to be the fifteenth most improved secondary school in England with a Contextual Value Added Score of 1062.3. This is the amount of value added to the performance of a student from the age of 11 to the age of 16.
This success is reflected in the school’s public examination results with 98% of all students gaining 5 A*-C grades in 2009 at GCSE or the equivalent. In English 68% achieved A*-C grades whilst in Science 94% of all students gained 2 A*-C grades or the equivalent.
In short, Shotton Hall School is a thriving, over-subscribed school with an excellent record of success in recent years. The January 2010 Ofsted Inspection merely serves to rubber stamp and authenticate a fact that many of us already know – Shotton Hall School is an outstanding school.
